Day 119 April 29
Two pictures for today. First of all, we have no fast food places in Cordova. This is as close as we get and it is only open during the spring and summer months. During April Baja Taco opens for about 4 hours a day, but this week it is now open at dinnertime too. We went and had dinner tonight after Josi had her second chickenpox shot. It's always like summer has finally arrived when we can go get something from Bajo Taco after school! It was really nice again today although a little colder than yesterday.
The other picture is of one of the gillnetters waiting to go into the water. Gillnet season opens mid May so now is the time that the population of town increases dramatically and everyone is in a hurry to get ready for fishing. Love this time of the year!

I wish we could send some of our TOO MANY fast food restaurants up there - you could use a few more and we could use less temptation! But I guess it makes the treat all the more sweet!
ReplyDeleteLily has asked me repeatedly to ask you if there are any Inuit people in your town. She is very into Native peoples right now and said she wants to go live near some Inuit people so she can learn about their culture! So if you ever think of it, let me know!
It's like your very own version of Deadliest Catch!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I agree with Jan´s first sentence
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't even imagine not having the option to just "grab something" in a hurry when you need to. We don't eat out much and our small town doesn't have as many choices as some (still too many IMHO) but to not have any would be hard.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
