Day 55 Feb 24
The principal at our school also happens to be a good friend. He and his wife taught in Taiwan for many years and when they moved here they quickly became like another Uncle and Aunt to my two girls. He is always presenting them with gifts that have something to do with China. This year for Chinese New Year he gave them each their own abacus. Josi has already figured out how to do a lot of the numbers. Maybe she will be able to barter in China using one!

I think the Chinese would be tickled to have her show off her abacus skills! I recall seeing so many of them in Nanchang on the store countertops -- that was in 1998.
