Day 102 April 12

I just had to do more than 1 photo today. We got up before 6:00 so we could head out the road for the sunrise service. It's something I have done for over 15 years now and it is one of Cadi's favorite services of the year. We meet at the Forest Service Gazebo that is 12 miles out of town. This morning it was snowing heavily as we drove out, but there were probably about 40 people there. Some years as the sun comes up the geese start honking. There were no sounds from nature today. This year it was just a heavy snowstorm and the only sound came from our singing songs of praise. I know in many places people wear new hats and dresses and pretty shoes for easter services. Here we bundle up and wear our functional hats and boots to keep warm and dry. I don't think God sees our manner of dress. He sees our hearts and our desire to worship him. Later we put on the pretty dresses for Sunday school and our 11 o'clock service, but that is not my favorite service either on Easter. I love the quietness of the morning, the greeting the new day, and being able to think about what it was like for those who went to Christ's tomb and found that He was no longer there. He Is Risen!

  1. Ok, now we really look like whimps around here. We whined and complained and convinced our new associate pastor NOT to hold Easter sunrise service outside because it would be too cold. (it was a scorching 45 degrees, you probably would have been excited for that) We also convinced her that sunrise is a concept not a time so she will be moving back to 7am next year (it was at 6 today) so we all quit complaining. Man are we a bunch of spoiled brats or what, I'm thinking God wasn't too happy with us today. The only good thing is He is Risen and no matter where we were or what time it was we were celebrating that!!
