Day 7 Jan 7th
Waiting for recess
Even though the weather is usually not very nice, kids go out for recess here every day. The few times I remember recess being cancelled were because there was a bear on the playground, a tsunami warning, or winds resembling a hurricane. Our kids are sturdy. They play in the rain and the wind and the sleet and the hail and the snow and the ice. Sometimes they actually get to play in the sunshine!

Great photo!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I can't imagine, our schools won't go outside in anything below 20 degree and certainly not in rain or anything else!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
What a cute shot - man your kids are tough!! Our kid missed recess just this morning because of high winds. I drove by at lunch and it was still windy (so bad I had to hold on earlier with two hands to keep my car door from slamming open and hitting the car next to us). Anyway, I saw a group of kindergarteners holding on to the bike rack to brace themselves against the wind. I thought it was so cute and funny - would have been a great picture! :)
ReplyDeleteand Tuesday we didn't even have school just because we were supposed to get rain and sleet! Lizzie's kindergarten class hasn't been outside all week because it's "too cold" or "too wet". I can understand the heavy rain but I bundle her up for school, she could go out on cold days to play, it was still above freezing! Yup, kids in Alaska are tough!
ReplyDeleteWow! Rain and cold weather will keep our kids in school. Do your kids bring another pair of shoes to wear during the day instead of the boots?
ReplyDeleteAnything below about 50 and our little Texans will freeze to death. Cause they all insist on wearing shorts and t-shirts every day.
ReplyDeleteLOL! A bear on the playground! I teach too and if it's below 32 degrees they stay in! too funny, I'm going to have to share your story with our principal! Love the line of boots!
